Welcome to my blog. The purpose of this blog is to document and share my exploration and experiences with art. I consider myself to be a landscape painter since most of my paintings are landscapes. My current work focuses on California landscapes and urban landscapes of Downtown Los Angeles in particular. I am a new resident to DTLA and my artwork has been a vehicle for learning about my new home.

My current project is part of my graduate thesis. Through research and watercolor journalism I hope to learn about the Downtown Los Angeles community historically, culturally, and socially. The process of painting in the community involves a constant cycle of observing, scrutinizing, recording, and reflecting. Chance encounters with people on the street and in parks help to develop a greater context for this exploration and infuses the learning process with lived experience. There is much to be learned from getting out and immersing one's self in the community, both from the physical environment and the people you meet randomly.
